This two-book series offers students valuable tips for getting the most from college lectures, including note-taking skills, organization of information, recognition of language cues, and the acquisition of vocabulary. Students are shown how a typical lecture is organized, using extensive excerpts and transcripts from authentic lectures on high-interest topics from a wide range of academic disciplines.

What I Believe, based on National Public Radio’s “This I Believe” series, features the unique voices of individuals from all walks of life who share the personal philosophies and core values that guide their daily lives. In addition to providing authentic listening practice, What I Believe challenges students to explore, discuss, and write about the essays in the text. It also engages and guides students in formulating, sharing, and discussing their own core values and beliefs.
